J&J Civil Construction is a veteran owned and operated Utah civil subcontractor serving Salt Lake City, Utah County and surrounding areas.
How we work
J&J is a hands-on Utah civil subcontractor. Most of our work is for general contractors and builders, with residential work direct for property owners, bringing the field crew and project coordination together around a defined scope. Our proposals set out what we carry, and our team raises site conditions and scope questions as the work develops.

Public right-of-way
J&J has performed utility work inside UDOT right-of-way: permitting, traffic control, night work in a live lane, a connection to a live main, and surface restored to the state standard. Plenty of contractors will not take right-of-way work. It is the same standard brought to private sites.

Sweeping the drive while the machine is still digging. The site gets cleaned as the work goes rather than once at the end — on a backyard job somebody is living there the whole time we are.
Ownership & management
Jason Whitman runs the field and takes the calls. John Cassell handles estimating and project management, so a bid, a scope question and a schedule change all go to the same person rather than round an office.
The right machine shows up for the work, and it runs. We buy from our dealers and keep a line open with them, so what turns up on your job is current and serviced — a machine down is somebody's day, and usually the one that mattered.
A real specialty
Backyard construction means working around existing homes, narrow access and utility connections. Our role is the excavation, footings, foundations and sitework that supports the build above.
